Our Response

Acts 2:36-41

36 “Therefore let all Israel be assured of this: God has made this Jesus, whom you crucified, both Lord and Messiah.” 37 When the people heard this, they were cut to the heart and said to Peter and the other apostles, “Brothers, what shall we do?” 38 Peter replied, “Repent and be baptized, every one of you, in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins. And you will receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. 39 The promise is for you and your children and for all who are far off—for all whom the Lord our God will call.” 40 With many other words he warned them; and he pleaded with them, “Save yourselves from this corrupt generation.” 41 Those who accepted his message were baptized, and about three thousand were added to their number that day.

The appropriate response to the Gospel:

  1. Believe that you are a child of God.
  • Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the right to become children of God.  John 1:12
  1. Believe that the power of sin has been shattered.
  • For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with,[a]that we should no longer be slaves to sin. Romans 6:6
  1. Believe and walk like the new creation you are.
  • For we know that our old self was crucified with him so that the body ruled by sin might be done away with, that we should no longer be slaves to sin.  2 Corinthians 5:17
  1. Declare publicly that you belong to Jesus through baptism.
  1. Know that you are indwelled with the Spirit.
  • And if the Spirit of him who raised Jesus from the dead is living in you, he who raised Christ from the dead will also give life to your mortal bodies because of[a] his Spirit who lives in you. Romans 8:11
